Assets

Assets are resources that a company owns or controls, which have monetary value and are expected to provide future economic benefits. Examples of assets include cash, investments, inventory, property, equipment, and accounts receivable. They can be classified into several categories such as current assets, fixed assets, tangible assets and intangible assets. Current assets such as cash and accounts receivable can be converted into cash quickly while fixed assets such as property, plant and equipment are long-term assets which are not easily converted into cash.

Tangible assets are assets that have a physical form, such as property and equipment, while intangible assets are non-physical assets, such as patents and trademarks.
